Il Frantoio of Vicopisano Commercial Farm is the result of Nicola Bovoli and his family‚Äôs passion for food, quality and the Tuscan countryside. The adventure begins in the 80‚Äôs with the acquisition of a farmhouse, an oil press and about ten hectares of olive groves in Vicopisano, on the Monte Pisano mountainside. The village is significant, both historically as well as artistically, and is renowned for its beautiful parish and its towers, particularly Brunelleschi‚Äôs tower which marks the countryside. It possesses a perfect microclimate: the calcareous soil, nearby woods and mild climate all aid the growing of olive trees, and enhance its quality and flavour. The house is ideal for weekend gatherings: grandparents, sons and grandchildren. Just the way Bovoli likes it! He engages in marketing in Milan, but during his free time he often escapes here with his wife Lucia. The oil press is on the ground floor, or rather the Ancient Tuscan Oil Press of ‚ÄúRio Grifone‚ÄĚ belonging to the Commercial Farm, with two cold-pressing lines: a resource and reference point for the whole territory. It is here that all the small landowners come to press their olives and then bring home enough oil to last them all year. Gradually they bought more land and planted more olive and fruit trees. This is the beginning of the Il Frantoio of Vicopisano Commercial Farm. In the late 90‚Äôs Simona, Bovoli‚Äôs firstborn, moves here. She starts a family and takes care of the countryside, the oil press and the farm. Bovoli loves simple, natural things. He is very proud of his products, and rightly so. He bans fertilizers and insecticides: everything is organic, grown and produced on the premises a few meters from the oil press. A genuine natural production with zero food miles, dedicated to those who love authentic flavours, who respect the environment and can recognize quality.
