The family-run business Tenuta Basciano has grown its own olive trees for four generations in the Abruzzo hills around the medieval town of Moscufo. The olive grove farm covers more than 10 acres in the hills of Moscufo, in the oldest PDO area of Italy, the "Aprutino -Pescarese". Here in Abruzzo olive farming has been a location of choise since ancient times and it is in these windy hills, close to the sea, with the unique climatic characteristics, that the Colazzilli Family, has closely followed, day after day, the difficult and exciting path to the harvest of the high quality "Dritta" cultivar. The careful harvesting, the immediate milling in the traditional mill of the masters of Moscufo and a proper conservation contribute to 'excellent quality extra virgin olive oil of the Tenuta Basciano farm. To be natur friendly the olive trees are cured for 15 years under organic farming and in accordance with the strict production, processing and packaging laws listed in the "PDO Aprutino-Pescara " regulation. The low acidity and an unmistakable fruity flavor makes this oil ideal to make every dish noble. The PDO zone "Aprutino-Pescara" is a warranty for top quality Olive Oil. The strict requirements on the organoleptic qualities of the PDO ensure a particular high standartof quality olive oil with a very low degree of acidity, a yellow-green color and a fruity flavor. PDO “Aprutino – Pescarese” garanties that the olives come from a limited geographical area where the different varieties of high quality trees are known as “Dritta”, “Leccino”, and “Toccolana”. The territory of Moscufo is an essential part of this PDO area, the first Italian region which in 1996 received recognition. Our olive Oil comes from only one type, the high quality "Dritta" variety.
